camping at home
So there was this little hurricane that hit about a billion or so people from Turks and Caicos to Canada. Our power went out Sunday at 0430 and its STILL out. Today Mason says "mommy, I wanna go camping." I said, "Baby we've been camping since Sunday" He says "NO with tents!" I said"Baby, after this whole power outage thing, we will not be doing any sort of camping for a LONG time." He acts all disappointed but after this experience I am just about sick of it all. It's hard. But it could be a lot worse. We dont have any major damage. Just some downed branches. We still have water. Cold water, but water. Some folks around here dont have water! They are on electric wells and that means no water. So to do dishes I have to boil water on the grill and bring it into the sink. I take a tea kettle out in the morning to boil water for instant coffee, bill put a pot on to boil to wash the baby in the sink tonight! Doing laundry is a huge process too. I had to unplug the downstairs fridge, and plug in the washer. Then take out the "clean" clothes (i dont think cold water washes near as well as warm or hot) and hang everything up on the pool deck fence to dry. It looked like shanty town in the backyard. Crazy times. Its def an experience that we will never forget. I took out the camera to document all the extension cords all over the house, the laundry on the fence, etc.
