half marathon training and tattoos

Things have been going really well on the medium distances for me lately. I killed a 4 mile run tonight. I felt like I was running super fast and lovin it! Of course I check my time when I got home and it was 41 minutes. I probably power walk faster than I run, LOL!! All this jogging has made a huge difference in my appearance. Im leaner than ever and my arms/traps (of all things) are super toned. My stomach still looks like a latex balloon that was left to deflate in the sun. Too bad the only thing to cure that is a tummy tuck...damn kids. Having babies murdered my midsection.  My problems occur around the 7 mile mark. Thats when I have to stop and walk. My knees tighten up and i just cant go on any further so I get my arms up and do some power walking which is less impact and after a half mile or so I can keep going. I really need to up my milage this week seeing as the half marathon is on the 7th. I just have to keep telling myself that I am a finisher and not a competitor. If I walk 6 of the 13.1 then so be it. Whateves, when I cross that finish line my ass will be sitting in a tattoo shop getting "13.1" tattooed on my foot. I want it to look like music notes on a staff since it will commemerate the Rock N Roll Half Marathon and I plan on doing the Rock N Roll 10k in Brooklyn in October. Why not? After a half, the 10k will seem like a breeze! I'm trying to save up some cash for Laurens footprint tattoo and that has to come first. I went and got the tat on my wrist and should have done the print before that. Seems harder to save up lately. I've been taking my kickboxing checks and stashing them for the past couple weeks and when theres enough money I'll cash them all at once and make my appointment. I only got 55 bucks so far (I blew a shit ton on new sneakers and running shorts) so I figure another 3 weeks of kickboxing money and I will be ready to pay for Laurens footprint. I could make the appointment now but I really want to wait till I'm out of the sun more often so I dont ruin it. I have 3 tats lined up in my head so far...the print, the half marathon, and my navy wife tattoo. That last one is going to be really subtle. No one would really get it unless I explained it. It's a rope line on the top of my right foot in the shape of a flip flop. All I ever wanted to do was move south and live in the warm climate so thats the flip flop part. The rope line is the nautical/navy wife part. Bill was always topside handling the lines going in and out. So a really detailed rope line with some sort of a knot next to the big toe is what I've been thinkin of.  Someday I will get my Angel/star touched up and beautified and I think I need to have that U.G.L.Y. Iris removed. I may get a new Iris somewhere else but the one I got is so awful. Idk. Maybe the artist can do something with it, who knows. For now, I'm really looking forward to running this race and doing the best I can and celebrating with a couple tattoos! Whoop!!
